Daedalus Yumeno has the appearance of a young boy no older than the age of 13 or 14, or even a young woman, but later, in a conversation with Raul Creed, it is revealed that he may in fact be much older. He is affectionately referred to as "The Prince" by Iggy. Daedalus works as the head of the Health and Welfare Bureau, and he attends to the health of Romdo's citizens; controlling the manufacturing station of the population, known as the Womb Room, as well as being one of the lead researchers on what was known as the Proxy Project . The Health and Welfare Division is also charged with the containment of Monad Proxy (who escapes in the first 15 seconds of the show) and research concerning the Proxies. Daedalus knows much more than he lets on about the Proxies and the truth concerning Romdo. However, he seems to be free of much of the regulation the other citizens of Romdo face.

In the final episodes, Daedalus has been revealed to have created a fake Re-l as a replacement for the Re-l, who has become obsessed with Vincent Law causing Daedalus to feel rejected. He also has shown that he has cracked-up mentally and that he no longer cares what happens to the world (the fake Re-l is taken over by Monad, growing wings and leaving Romdo as the city collapses, abandoning Daedalus in the process). Daedalus, concluding that Re-l has always left him behind, and is crushed by falling rubble. He survives long enough to witness his clone Re-l dying, being incinerated by sunlight as she flies into the sky out of the collapsing dome of Romdo.

In the DVD Release of the series, Daedalus has a chance encounter with the original Re-l as she is running through the city to reach the plug vent. This scene only serves to have him reiterate knowledge the viewer likely has already figured out. His last words are "Run...Re-l" as he instructs her to leave him behind.

Daedalus displays a strange obsessive love for Re-L, and later on in the anime series, Raul says he's "lost it" when he introduces fake Real.
