- The secondary title of this episode, "Life After God" is derived from one of Douglas Coupland's novels of the same name. The text is an exploration of faith in the vacuum of religion, set around the theme of a generation raised without god. [1] The episode "Place at the End of Time (Shampoo Planet)" is also named after one of Coupland's novels, specifically the predecessor of Life After God.
