Vincent Law is one of the main characters of Ergo Proxy. An immigrant of Mosk City, he worked for an AutoReiv elimination unit in Romdo with the hope of becoming a model citizen until he was pursued by Monad (proxy). Later, he was forced to flee the city due to criminal charges. In the company of an AutoReiv Pino and later, Re-l Mayer, he went on a quest to recover his memories and discover his true identity.

Biography:

Vincent's first memories are of the hike to Romdo from the destruction of (at least in part) the Mosk dome. With many other Mosk citizens, Vincent applied for and obtained an immigration permit. While he was waiting in line for it, he saw Re-L Mayer for the first time and fell in love with her. She was present during his interview to enter Romdo, and he ran later into her several times during her investigation of AutoReivs infected with the Cogito virus.

At the beginning of the show, Vincent is indicated on a work day with an elimination unit used to track down AutoReivs Cogito infected in order to keep fellow citizens safe, and for him to be updated from immigrant status to citizen status. In the first episode, Vincent is shown filming the escaped AutoReiv, which is either a woman or Entourage model Companion, alone only to have the AutoReiv being infected by the Cogito and escaping him. For his mistake, Petro Seller, his boss, gives him additional jobs, one of which was to verify if the company AutoReiv Pino was infected.

Subsequently, Re-l Mayer just watched a video, previously taken by Vincent of the AutoReiv and examined his record of hippocampus for the memories, allowing them to discover the "Escape Route" that all infected AutoReivs take. Realizing that he could no longer face Romdo, Vincent tried to find a way out, from which he could escape. On the way, he meets Pino, infected by the Cogito and she is able to lead him there through his escape.

Re-l study the remains of her bathroom and find the pendant of Vincent (which is actually the pendant of Monad) in the debris, connecting the two of them. Through a series of calls, Re-l was able to contact Vincent and follow him, but when the Security Bureau arrived, Vincent believed she had betrayed him. Pino opened the closing of the dome, and Vincent was sucked outside despite Re-l's efforts to prevent this. Though Re-l tried to convince Vincent to return to the city, he realized that he would never fit in. Ergo opened his eyes to look Re-l in the eyes (for a last look at him) and Drops out of the dome when closing closes.

Vincent was able to survive the descent likely by transformation, but suffered a fever when entering the atmosphere from the outside. He was taken care of by Hoody, the head of the Commune outside, who watched over him for ten days until he was able to recover from the virus that had attacked his system.

During the recovery, Vincent learned that he had a community that existed outside the Dome. The commune is made up of about a dozen people, most of whom were elderly, except Quinn, a young single mother and her child, Timothy. Re-l later tries to bring Vincent back. And by chance in secret during this time the Security Bureau tried to kill Vincent and at the same time erased the town and thus killed Timothy and meanwhile Vincent falls down and takes its Proxy form and appears as Ergo again second time. Re-l was struck by the virus; However, as she lacked the immune system of a proxy, there was little hope of healing in the outside world. As a result, Quinn made a plan to take the outcasts of the Commune out of the 400 rabbits, a wind ship that was previously hidden by Hoody in an attempt to maintain status in the commune. Raul Creed, the chief of security, is furious that he was led to believe that Hoody was Vincent and presents a personal vendetta against Vincent LAW, who is now stolen through the devastated wildlands to find Mosk to get Answers about his past.

Re-l decides to go looking for Vincent to get answers begins so as he navigates through the burnt earth.

After facing many other proxies in the landscape of the destroyed earth, Vincent's memories of his time in Mosk and identity as a proxy soon became clear. Vincent has learned that he is indeed a proxy, but it is a proxy created by another proxy that has its true one (proxy One) when proxy One has learned the true meaning of the existence of proxies. This was during which Dedallius remained and stopped generators of Romdo thus causing the destruction of the city. Like Re-l left to face Dedallius.

Vincent chose to face a proxy One & finally get the answers he desires. Proxy One then began to explain the truth about the Creator and the proxies that shocked Vincent during this revelation. In the first episodes, Vincent is shown to express, a humble personality because of his desire to become a fellow citizen. However, behind this gentle character, Vincent is a thoughtful, determined and ultimately strong person.
